(never) Home Alone
I think the biggest compliment you can give someone is by granting that person trust. Time spent, presents bought, pictures taken all become negligible and arbitrary if you can’t let something go and trust it’s better off on its own.
That’s what growing up is about. My family trusted me to live on my own the past four years and come back home more open minded and knowledgable than before. This kind of trust is selfless and pure, and most importantly, optimistic.
Waking up everyday to wish away demons and hope people you trust provide for you is daunting and destructive. My family has always trusted in me, and I am so grateful for their patience while I grow.
They’ve never even asked for a “thank you” either.
